Closing day in Citrus County when buyers receive the keys to their new home
By Diana Dodd, REALTOR® | ERA American Suncoast Realty
Closing day is one of the most exciting parts of buying a home. It can also feel overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect.
I want to walk you through what actually happens on closing day here in Citrus County so you feel prepared and confident.
What Closing Day Means
Closing day is when everything becomes official. You sign the final documents, your funds transfer, and the county records the sale. Once that happens, you own the home.
Where Closing Happens
Most closings in Citrus County take place at a title company or an attorney’s office. Some buyers attend in person. Others complete their closing remotely, depending on the situation.
What You Will Sign
You will review and sign several documents. The main ones include your loan documents if you are financing, your closing disclosure, and your final settlement paperwork.
Your lender and title company will walk you through everything so you understand what you are signing.
What to Bring
Plan ahead so nothing slows you down. Bring a valid photo ID and your wired funds for closing costs. Do not bring a personal check unless you were told to do so.
Always confirm wiring instructions directly with the title company to protect yourself from fraud.
Getting Your Keys
Most buyers receive their keys after the transaction funds and records. This usually happens the same day, but timing can vary slightly.
Final Walkthrough
Before closing, you will complete a final walkthrough. This is your chance to confirm the home is in the agreed condition, repairs are complete, and nothing has changed.
Do not skip this step.
